TOUR RIVER  BLACK

RIO NEGRO -3 days / 2 nights. Day 1 -  8.30am leave hotel, 9.00am depart from the port of Manaus, down the Rio Negro from where we will see the city with its riverside dwellings called Palafitas. At 18 kms from Manaus we will witness the phenomenon of the Meeting of the Waters of the Rio Negro and the Solimoes which run side for 6 kms before mixing. We will follow the Rio Solimoes until reaching the Janauari Ecological Park where we will observe the different ecosystems of the area, the opportunity to buy indigenous handicrafits and sample delicious Amazonian cuisine in a floating restaurant. We will visit the igarapes and igapos and fish for piranhas. We will see how the caboclos live in the Amazon and after dinner go out with flashlights to hunt alligators – an opportunity to see how the Caboclo catches this animal with his bare hands (returning it to the water afterwards). Sleep overnight on board the boat or in native homes.  Day 2 -  After breakfast we will trek into the jungle (Iranduba) where our guide will explain the various uses of plants, including those with medicinal properties, We will eat lunch on the boat then travel to the Rio Negro. At night we will paddle in canoes and sleep overnight on the boat or in native homes. Day 3 -   After breakfast we will trek again to observe the diferent vegetation in the area of the Rio Negro. We will eat lunch in the jungle then take the canoes to explore the igarapes, with the opportunity to swim in the river. Return to Manaus. RIO NEGRO (ANAVILHANAS) 5 days / 4 nights  Day 1 - 8.30am leave hotel, 9.00am depart from the port of Manaus, down the Rio Negro from where we will see the city with its riverside dwellings called Palafitas. At 18 kms from Manaus we will witness the phenomenon of the Meeting of the Waters of the Rio Negro and the Solimoes which run side by side for 6 kms before mixing. We will eat lunch on board and travel to JACARE UBAL from where we will paddle the canoes to fish for piranhas. After dinner we will go with the Caboclos to see how they catch alligators with their bare hands (returning the animal to the water afterwards). We will spend the night on board the boat or in homes of the Caboclos.  Day 2 -Travel to the Anavilhanas Islands – about 400 islands which provide a sanctuary for the delicate eco system of the Amazon – an abundance of flora and fauna that are treatened with extinction. After lunch we will go for a trek though the jungle. Sleeping on board the boat. Day 3 /4 -  After breakfast we will go for the jungle, stoppingfor lunch on the way. We will camp in the jungle at night, around a campfire. Day 5 - After breakfast we will trek back to the boat. We will eat on board, returning to the city of Manaus.  Arrival:  5.00pm -Transport:  Riverboart or canoe. Accommodation:  Boat or native home. Includes:   Food.
